We are looking to appoint a well organised, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to participate in providing professional, efficient and high quality Secretary and reception duties to the Speech and Language Therapy Service.

You will be situated in the department's reception area offering a friendly and efficient first point of contact to patients and visitors to our department. Main responsibilities include greeting patients/visitors to the dept, answering all telephone calls including taking complex inpatient referral information, managing the department's outpatient waiting list and arranging all outpatient appointments using the Trust's Electronic Patient Information system, booking hospital transport, dealing with therapist's administrative needs and typing routine letters and complex reports.

You will also be required to provide cover for some admin duties to our Adult Rehab team to ensure cross-service cover alongside our 0.4 WTE Support Secretary / Receptionist. Please contact Alison Elliot for more details if required. 

Confidence in IT and keyboard use and the ability to type quickly and accurately is essential. Competence in hospital systems such as EPIC and Oracle would be a strong advantage. The ability to prioritise effectively and to remain calm and focused under pressure is important as the position can be very demanding. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a priority as the post holder is the first point of contact for our service and we work with people who are experiencing severe communication problems.

The current work pattern includes covering two evening clinics per week until 6.30pm and we are keen to maintain this arrangement. However, the department has a flexible approach to working patterns. Please ring to discuss.
