Our Nursing Apprenticeship Pathway (NAP) lets you study part-time at university whilst continuing in your permanent HCSW role here at CUH, ultimately progressing to Registered Nurse status - get the best of both worlds, earn as you learn - no university fees - no debt!

As a Healthcare Support Worker - Nursing Apprentice you will:

  • gain the ability to earn while you learn whilst continuing in your current (permanent) HCSW role
  • receive a route into nursing with tuition fees to the value of £27,000 paid by CUH leading to a BSc (Hons) Nursing Degree (upon meeting university and CUH eligibility criteria)
  • access higher education while gaining valuable experience in the workplace
  • be on a structured career pathway
  • receive pastoral support throughout your pathway
  • undertake a Higher Apprenticeship FdSc Assistant Practitioner (Nursing) Higher Apprenticeship in the first 20 months of the pathway. Then, on successful completion of the end point assessment and meeting the trust behavioural standards, you will continue on to  undertake the Nurse Degree Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship for the remaining 22 months
  • achieve registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and guaranteed employment as a Registered Nurse here at CUH

Eligibility Criteria

Must have:

  • GCSE C or above (new grade 4-9) in both English and maths
  • worked as a HCSW here at CUH for a minimum of 9 months
  • been employed in a permanent HCSW position working a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • completed your National Care Certificate (NCC)
  • The ability to be sufficiently self- motivated to complete this pathway

  • Thursday 15th November 2018, Deakin Centre Level 3, 5-6pm or 6.15-7.15 pm
  • Saturday 12th January 2019, Deakin Centre Ground Floor, 10-11am, 11.30-12.30pm or 1.15-2.15pm

There will be representation from both CUH and ARU Nursing Apprenticeship teams alongside senior ARU lecturers, all of whom will happily answer any questions you may have. To book onto your preferred session please email nursingapprenticeship@addenbrookes.nhs.uk. We look forward to meeting you.

We will also be in the concourse handing out NAP information leaflets on Monday 3rd December and Thursday 6th December from 7.00 - 8.30am.

If you do not have your English and maths qualifications at the required level we can help for a future NAP application. We provide access to free functional skills in English & maths tuition (equivalent to GCSE) here at CUH.
