Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow (Higher) in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General (Internal) Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a 12 month post, available from 8 January 2018.

This post provides an exciting opportunity to train with established specialist clinical teams in a world-leading academic centre, gaining experience of tertiary level diabetes, endocrinology and obesity.

Applicants require full MRCP (or equivalent) and endocrinology and diabetes experience at registrar level is required. The post is particularly suitable for applications who are peri- or post- CCT (or equivalent) and are planning a career in Diabetes/Endocrinology in an academic or teaching hospital environment.

The post will enable the successful candidate to focus on specialist areas of interest drawn from the wide range of clinical services delivered by the teams based within the Wolfson Diabetes and Endocrine Clinic. The post holder will also contribute to the General (Internal) Medicine on-call activity.

The Diabetes Service clinics includes a regional pump service, multi-disciplinary clinics in diabetic foot disease and diabetes in pregnancy, a dedicated diabetes In-patient attending team, joint renal-diabetes clinics, adolescent and transition clinics, combined diabetes and obesity clinics and a National Severe Insulin Resistance service.

Endocrinology clinics include general endocrinology, thyroid (including National thyroid function test referral service), parathyroid, pituitary, neuroendocrine tumours (NET), inherited endocrine syndromes, reproductive endocrinology including DSD and Turner Syndrome, adolescent endocrinology clinics as well as an opportunity to work in the thyroid cancer, pituitary and NET MDTs.

Although this is a clinical post, there will be ample opportunity to interact with the wider research activity within the Wellcome Trust- MRC Institute of Metabolic Science.
